International and National Health Organizations Urge Need for Action to Increase Physical Activity in Society
United Nations (UN):
The UN developed 17 goals (Sustainable Development Goals) to ensure sustainable development all over the world and to protect our planet by 2030.
Health plays a major role in the sustainable development at every stage of life and at every age. The right to a healthy life is enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goal No. 3 (health and well-being) and No. 5 (gender equality).
World Health Organization (WHO):
Physical inactivity strongly continues to increase and leads to chronic diseases such as osteoarthritis, obesity, type II diabetes and others.
Against this background, the WHO has established international recommendations for physical activity. These include the following and are seen as a minimum of physical activity per week:
- At least 150 minutes of moderate (or 75 minutes of intensive) endurance activity
- 2-3 times strengthening exercises for all major muscle groups
- 2-3 times additional flexibility training for older people
According to scientific surveys by the WHO, many people only do some or none of the strengthening exercises.
German Federal Government:
In line with the WHO's exercise recommendations, the German government published National Exercise Recommendations in 2016. These contain similar guidelines, implemented at the national level to counteract the lack of physical activity in society.
The FITNESS BENCH by Moveuments
Equal opportunity access to comprehensive, sustainable exercise solutions are the reason we developed the FITNESS BENCH, a smart exercise solution for a wide range of exercise environments.
The FITNESS BENCH combines the versatility of a multifunctional training device with sports medicine-designed exercises and training options for all performance levels.
The FITNESS BENCH in Therapy
A scientific study is currently being carried out in collaboration with the Institute for Sports Science in Frankfurt/Main and the Hohe Mark psychiatric clinic in Oberursel (near Frankfurt/Main).
This project is evaluating the use of the FITNESS BENCH in the context of inpatient exercise therapy. In addition, the extent to which patients show a change in adherence (continuation of exercise approaches after therapy) in their everyday environment as an outcome of the training with the FITNESS BENCH is being investigated.
This project is evaluating the use of the FITNESS BENCH in the context of inpatient exercise therapy and monitoring the extent to which patients show a change in adherence (continuation of exercise approaches after therapy) in their everyday environment as an outcome of their FITNESS BENCH training and experience.
